Makr Microsystems is a Bengaluru-based semiconductor metrology company building instruments that let chipmakers measure structures and defects beneath the surface of a chip at nanoscale resolution. Its platform combines Acoustic Atomic Force Microscopy (AAFM), optical tomography and 3D data analytics software for high-resolution, non-destructive subsurface analysis, with initial applications in advanced packaging, hybrid bonding, buried interfaces, chiplet interconnects and defect detection. Founded by CEO Dr. Ashwin Lal, who holds a PhD in Microtechnology from EPFL and previously worked at Applied Materials, the company raised a 10.2 crore rupee seed round led by Bluehill VC with participation from Artha Venture Fund to advance toward commercial deployment with semiconductor manufacturers.
