M-Based is an Ankara-based biotechnology startup that develops alternative material technologies from mushroom mycelium, operating out of ODTÜ Teknokent. Its first product, Fomes, is a vegan leather-like biomaterial positioned as a sustainable alternative to animal and petroleum-based leather, aimed first at fashion and textiles with planned applications in automotive and furniture. With its 2026 seed round the company is moving Fomes into industrial-scale production and accelerating international commercialisation.
