Laki Power builds grid-monitoring technology for high-voltage transmission networks, combining cameras and sensors in a single line-mounted unit that gives utilities real-time visibility into line conditions, icing and load. Its patented PowerGRAB system harvests up to 300 watts of power directly from the live conductor, running cameras, weather sensors, satellite links and drone-charging stations in remote locations without battery replacement. Founded in Reykjavík in 2015 by former grid-operator engineer Óskar Valtýsson and Ósvaldur Knudsen, the company works with utilities including Landsnet in Iceland and Statnett in Norway and serves customers across Europe, North America, South America and Australia.
