HyLight is a Paris-based startup building hydrogen-powered unmanned airships (the HyLighter) for inspecting critical energy infrastructure — detecting methane leaks on pipelines and defects and vegetation risks on power lines and railways. A crossover between drone and airship technology, the HyLighter flies up to 10 hours (~350 km) at slow speed carrying HD cameras and LiDAR, thermal and infrared sensors, giving utilities a zero-emission, lower-cost alternative to helicopter inspections. Founded in 2022 by Martin Bocken (CEO), Thomas Laporte (CBO) and Josef Rokusek (CTO), the Y Combinator Summer 2023 alum works with operators such as Enedis, Europe's largest power line operator, and is a France 2030 winner.
