Forward Deployed is a Melbourne-based national security startup building DINGO (Deployable Infrared Gas Observer), a deployable chemical threat detection platform that pairs field-ready sensing hardware with real-time software to identify chemical hazards within seconds. Founded in 2023 by Swinburne alumni Richard Hebden, Alex Barry and Liam Eldon, the company collaborates with Swinburne University of Technology on autonomous sensing and data processing and already holds contracts in Australia, the US and the UK. Its initial focus is national security, with future applications in biosecurity, agriculture, construction and mining.
