Headquartered in Torrance, California, the company combines commercial components, high-rate manufacturing and onboard autonomy so its spacecraft can hold position near critical assets, assess surrounding activity and respond before an anomaly becomes a threat. Founded by CEO Mike Smayda, Fortastra went from its December 2025 seed round to its first on-orbit mission, Watchdog V0, in about a year.
