Expanse is a Y Combinator-backed (Spring 2026) startup founded in 2025 by four University of Edinburgh alumni who previously ran HPC and GPU training workloads at quant funds QRT, Millennium, and G-Research. It builds an on-prem intelligence layer that predicts GPU resource needs, right-sizes job submissions, and forecasts failures before they waste compute, helping ML and HPC teams recover idle cluster capacity without buying more hardware. Backed by NVIDIA's Inception Program, Expanse is based in San Francisco and serves AI research labs, quant funds, and neocloud providers.
