Breye Therapeutics is a clinical-stage Danish biopharmaceutical company developing oral therapeutics for the early treatment of retinal diseases. Its lead candidate, danegaptide, is a first-in-class oral small molecule designed to treat non-proliferative diabetic retinopathy (NPDR) by stabilizing the retinal vasculature; Phase 1b has been completed with early signs of clinical activity and a randomized Phase 2 proof-of-concept trial is planned for 2027. The pipeline also includes a P2X7 receptor antagonist for intermediate age-related macular degeneration and neuroprotective candidates in glaucoma. The company is based in Horsholm, near Copenhagen.
