Besxar (Besxar Space Industries) is a Washington, D.C.-based space manufacturing startup founded by former OpenAI staffer Ashley Pilipiszyn. It builds reusable autonomous "Fabships" - manufacturing pods flown on reusable rockets such as the SpaceX Falcon 9 - that leverage the ultra-high vacuum of space to produce ultra-pure semiconductor substrates and precursors that are difficult to make in Earth-based cleanrooms. The company has signed a launch agreement with SpaceX for an initial twelve-mission campaign and positions itself as an orbital foundry for advanced chip materials.
