Arcee AI is a San Francisco-based AI lab that trains open-weight foundation models spanning small edge-friendly variants up to its 400-billion-parameter Trinity Large mixture-of-experts flagship, and provides the post-training, adaptation and deployment tooling enterprises need to run them in-house. Founded in 2023 by Mark McQuade, Jacob Solawetz and Brian Benedict and run by a team of roughly 30, it targets enterprises and government customers in regulated sectors — including the U.S. Department of Energy — that need state-of-the-art AI without sending data to closed-model providers. The company says it trained its four-model Trinity family for roughly $20 million, positioning itself as the efficiency-led American answer to Chinese open-weight labs.
