52North is a University of Cambridge spin-out that has developed the Aster biomarker detection platform, built to move diagnostic testing out of hospital labs and into patients' homes. Its lead product, Neutrocheck, is a rapid finger-prick blood test that lets chemotherapy patients be triaged remotely for neutropenic sepsis, a life-threatening complication that drives tens of thousands of UK emergency hospital visits each year. Based in Cambridge, the company is preparing Neutrocheck for its UK market launch with backing from investors including Macmillan Ventures and Hargreave Hale AIM VCT.
