3Helix is a Salt Lake City biotech founded in 2015 by biomedical engineering professors Michael Yu and Yang Li that commercializes collagen hybridizing peptide (CHP) technology, short synthetic peptides that bind selectively to damaged and denatured collagen for research and diagnostic applications. Its fluorescent CHP tools are used in histopathology and disease models ranging from pulmonary fibrosis to cancer, and its next-generation bioACTIVE CHP platform aims to translate damaged-collagen science into regenerative treatments. BASF made a strategic equity investment in 2023 with exclusive personal-care rights to the technology, and in April 2026 launched NeoHelix Regenerate, the first cosmetic ingredient built on the partnership.
