Overview
This skill generates sermons, sermonettes, and split sermons tailored for United Church of God worship services. I produce biblically grounded, theologically consistent, and pastorally sensitive messages sized to the precise word-count ranges required for each message type. The voice is conversational yet substantive and designed for mature believers.
How this skill works
I determine the appropriate message type (sermonette, split sermon, or full sermon) from the request, select a focal text or concept, and build an outline that follows a clear opening, exposition, application, and conclusion pattern. Exegesis is prioritized: Scripture passages are unpacked in context, cross-referenced, and—when helpful—illuminated with concise original-language or cultural notes. Final output is checked for word count, liturgical fit, and alignment with United Church of God doctrinal and pastoral standards.
When to use it
- When you request a sermon, sermonette, or split sermon for a UCG worship service
- When you need a biblical teaching (1,400–4,000 words) with liturgical or Holy Day relevance
- When you want a message grounded in UCG theological commitments and Sabbath/feast observance
- When you need a two-part teaching for two speakers with thematic unity (split sermon)
Best practices
- Specify message type, focal Scripture or theme, and any liturgical context (e.g., Feast of Tabernacles, offering moment)
- If requesting a split sermon, indicate whether I should write both parts or only one and note the other speaker's focus
- Ask for target word count within the allowed range and any preferred subthemes or illustrative techniques
- Request review for theological alignment if the topic touches contested doctrinal areas
- Provide congregation context (maturity, pastoral needs) to shape application and tone
Example use cases
- Write a 1,500-word sermonette on rejoicing at the Feast of Tabernacles to precede the offering
- Create a 3,800-word main sermon on covenant identity rooted in Genesis and prophetic fulfillment
- Produce both parts of a 2,500-word split sermon: Part 1—biblical foundation; Part 2—practical application
- Generate a word-study sermonette exploring the Hebrew term for 'honor' with pastoral application
FAQ
Yes. Tell me which Holy Day and I will connect ancient observance to New Covenant meaning and present relevant application.
Will you check doctrinal alignment with United Church of God standards?
I follow UCG doctrinal cues built into the skill; if the topic is sensitive, request an explicit doctrinal review.
