Overview
This skill generates, evaluates, and prototypes creative product and project ideas autonomously. It combines structured brainstorming, a weighted evaluation framework, and rapid prototyping templates to move ideas from concept to validated MVP. The skill stores and tracks ideas and recommends next research steps before investing development time.
How this skill works
When prompted it defines the domain and constraints, generates 5–10 idea variants using methods like SCAMPER and constraint-based prompts, and scores each idea on market demand, feasibility, revenue potential, and uniqueness. Ideas scoring above the threshold are flagged for research: Google Trends, Reddit, Product Hunt, GitHub, and X/Twitter checks. It can create simple prototypes (landing pages, CLI proofs, small web app MVPs) and persist idea metadata to a local ideas file for tracking.
When to use it
- When you need rapid, structured brainstorming for a specific domain or constraint
- To prioritize which product ideas to prototype quickly
- When you want a reproducible, scored shortlist before doing deeper research or dev work
- To generate low-cost weekend MVPs or CLI prototypes for validation
- When documenting and tracking multiple idea iterations over time
Best practices
- Start by clearly defining domain, budget, time, and target user before ideation
- Use the provided weighted scoring matrix; treat 6.0+ as a prototyping threshold
- Run lightweight research (search trends, community threads, existing products) before building
- Prototype incrementally: landing page → CLI proof → web app MVP only if validated
- Avoid public promotion or spending money without explicit permission
Example use cases
- Brainstorm 8 low-cost SaaS concepts for freelancers and prioritize top 3 for weekend prototypes
- Evaluate side-project ideas and generate quick landing pages to measure interest
- Turn a validated idea into a one-day CLI proof-of-concept to test core functionality
- Archive and score experiment outcomes in a local ideas ledger for later revisiting
- Use SCAMPER prompts to rework an existing product idea into a differentiated spin-off
FAQ
Ideas are scored 1–10 on market demand (30%), feasibility (25%), revenue potential (25%), and uniqueness (20%). A weighted total of 6.0 or higher is recommended for prototyping.
What kinds of prototypes will the skill produce?
Rapid, low-cost prototypes: a one-hour landing page to gauge interest, a 2–4 hour CLI proof to validate functionality, and a 1–2 day web app MVP if validation supports further investment.
