Overview
This skill builds short, safe tai chi practice plans, offers concise real-time form coaching cues, and tracks balance-focused sessions with weekly reviews. It keeps safety boundaries explicit and emphasizes small, repeatable practice that fits home or class routines. The goal is steady, measurable progress without medical claims.
How this skill works
The skill guides mode selection (start, session, repair, build, recover), then creates a session blueprint sized to user constraints (5–20 minutes by default). It provides one primary correction cue and one confirmed win per session, records session metadata locally, and summarizes weekly trends to set the next target. Local file prompts and writes always require user confirmation.
When to use it
- Starting a simple, repeatable home tai chi routine
- Reinforcing class content between lessons
- Focusing practice on balance and controlled weight shifts
- Repairing a single form fault with targeted cues
- Scaling intensity down for recovery after injury or fatigue
Best practices
- Choose the right mode before planning: start, session, repair, build, or recover
- Default to the smallest useful session the user will repeat (5–8 minutes if needed)
- Coach one correction and celebrate one win each session
- Use the root-shift-breathe ordering for cues: root first, then shift, then breath
- Track only signals that change decisions: frequency, steadiness, weight-shift confidence, and stop signals
- Escalate promptly to conservative modification or professional care if safety signals appear
Example use cases
- Create a 10-minute daily plan to improve weight transfer and ankle steadiness
- Run a short 'repair' session to fix collapsing knees during a specific posture
- Design a low-intensity recovery session after a flare of joint pain
- Log three weeks of sessions and produce a weekly review highlighting trends
- Set up a build week with progressive targets for balance confidence
FAQ
No. It supports movement quality and habit building but does not diagnose or prescribe; escalate to clinicians when safety signals appear.
Where is my practice data stored?
Notes and logs are stored locally in a designated ~/tai-chi/ folder and files are written only after your confirmation.
Can I mix goals like balance and learning a new form in one session?
Prefer single-focused sessions. Mix goals only if you explicitly request a combined session and accept trade-offs.
